His eye is on the sparrow
and on every other living creature as well.
A tiny kitten wandered into the back yard the other day- alone, frightened, starving, wounded.
It was quite a feat to get him cornered and captured.
Clearly terrified, the noises he made
were like something from the bowels of hell.
Wrapped in a towel, off to the vet we dashed- he seemed to understand he had just been rescued.
As it turns out, he was mostly just starving and thirsty.
Once he devoured some food, he began to settle down.
I have yet to hear that terrible noise again……(Thank God!)
A week has passed and he has been transformed by love.
Wounds healed, belly filled out-
he has made himself at home in our household.
What’s one more pet to the 3 who already live here?
He seems to understand his incredible good fortune for all he can do is purr and snuggle.
Everywhere I go, there he is under my feet.
It’s as if he is afraid to let me out of his sight now.
Love is transformational- whether it is kittens or people.
To love anything is to risk getting your heart broken, yet to love nothing is to miss our humanity.
I am reminded by this little kitten how nothing is so insignificant that it escapes the eye of the Almighty One.
His eye is on the sparrow.
And on lost kittens.
And on you and me.
Hallelujah.
